33 Shots Fired At Suffolk County Home Of Nypd Officer

An off-duty NYPD officer was grazed in the head by a bullet as dozens of gunshots rang out at her Long Island home, reportedly intended for her sister’s boyfriend, who allegedly has gang ties.

NYPD officer Nathaly Gomez Iglesias was eating in her Brentwood home at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31 when approximately 33 gunshots were fired into the residence, police said.

Gomez Iglesias, age 23, who is an officer in the 103rd Precinct in Queens, was struck by one of the bullets in the head and rushed to South Shore Hospital, where she was treated and later released.

No other injuries were reported at the scene of the home on Morton Street near the Washington Avenue intersection in Brentwood.

According to reports, the gunmen may have been targeting her sister’s boyfriend, who could be connected to the MS-13 street gang.


“Shots were fired into a home on Morton Street at approximately 2:30 a.m.,” Suffolk County Police said in a statement. “Multiple people were inside the home at the time, and an adult female was grazed by a bullet. The woman was treated at a local hospital and released.”

Police noted that “the investigation has revealed that the incident was not random.”
